Claude L\u00e9vi Strauss and Gaston Bachelard have extolled the virtues of the miniature, saying that its microcosm is a blend of intelligence, imaginative escape and power over things. Where do you fit in between Duchamp’s bo\u00eete-valise and the Smurf village? <\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

Miniaturization comes into play when synthesis is impossible, when information compression is blocked. What can’t be reduced by synthesis, can be reduced by size. It’s as simple as that, and this reduction makes it possible to show large ensembles by evoking combinations. <\/p>\n
